I’ve been quiet on here for a bit and was going to write a longer post this week, but I’m kind of busy so I’m just checking in with a quick update.
And a confession.
Actually this isn’t really a confession because, while I did purchase something new, I didn’t actually break one of my rules. Or at least I can tell myself that this hat I bought on the beach in Mexico was made locally and ethically. Or that the guy who sold it to me was (or knew) the nice artisan who made it. Or at the very least that I helped him earn a living wage that day.
Hmmm, probably not. OK how about this? I can safely say I actually did need it. I was there for a week and had only packed a baseball cap (not intentional I swear). And to be fair, I have looked at hats for sale on the beach on almost every vacation I’ve taken in my adult life and have literally never seen one I liked. When I walked up to the seller with this one, it was love at first sight — not too floppy and huge but still big enough to protect me and all my pale glory from the sun.
Plus it was twenty bucks. Oh, and how cute is that hat band?
